HULL CONSTRUCTION The Hull mold was originally developed by Jack Sarin Naval Architect, Inc. Subsequent structural engineering and laminate detail supplied by Naval Architect/Engineer, Al Horsmon for Crescent Custom Yachts, Inc. Hull construction is of sandwich composite laminate, using 100% vinylester resin, with multi-axial e-glass over CORE-CELL foam core. Stiffening is designed with a matrix of composite bulkheads and longitudinal girders. Six watertight compartments are incorporated into the design including the collision bulkhead forward. Structural design based upon American Bureau of Shipping “1990 Guide for Building and Classing Motor Pleasure Yachts.” Through-hull fittings and mechanical fastenings shall be bedded and sealed with polyurethane adhesive/sealant, 3M-5200.
Limbers - framing members (except watertight bulkheads) incorporate limber holes for free drainage to the bilge sumps. Limber holes shall be lined with FRP laminate. Limber holes arranged to limit bilge water accumulating in isolated pockets.
Deck/House - The Deck/House/Pilothouse/Bulkhead structure are designed and constructed to be as lightweight as possible consistent with the required scantlings. Decks, primary structural bulkheads, house sides and house tops laminated with e-glass roving (woven and/or knit) and mat with integral FR stiffeners. Deck/House core shall be cross-linked PVC (DIVINYCIL or equiv) or linear polymer foam (CORE-CELL A-500 or equiv.) Through-deck and through-house penetrations shall be locally reinforced and penetrated core is closed off by the laminate. Through-laminate mechanical fittings and all fastenings be bedded and sealed with polyurethane adhesive/sealant, 3M-5200 or equal.
Non-Structural Laminates - Exterior laminates that are not related to the basic structures, such as soffits, deck coamings, bulwark liners, and styling features laminated of FRP skins over core.
Finishes - Exposed surfaces hull, decks and superstructure faired and painted with epoxy and linear polyurethane (IMRON or equiv.) Underwater surfaces of the hull bottom receive epoxy barrier coat and three coats bottom paint (INTERLUX or equiv.)
Sound Insulation - All accommodation surfaces (hull, deck, and superstructure) are insulated for sound and thermal transmission by 1” thick foam with vinyl cover layer. Carpeted floors with 3/8’’ sound deadening, loaded under-pad in addition to carpet underlay. Main engines mounted with CATERPILLER supply vibration/isolation pads. Generators equipped with NORTHERN LIGHTS sound enclosures. Generators are double isolated with factory electro-hydrostatic mounts.
Engine room is isolated from the remainder of the vessel by soundproofing using multi-layer sound blanket insulation covered with white composite FRP panels. Engine room air trunks per same schedule. For more information, please contact Owner's Agent Greg Marino Cell: (954) 249-2529 |
